We went in through the archway, into the vaulted hall. The gate slammed shut behind us. Four stairways stood before us. In the middle of the hall was a tall statue of some dragon Pokemon that I could not name - it was rough hewn and stylized. Perhaps it was meant to be Kyurem. For some reason the thought made me feel more comfortable.
I decided to take the third stairway first. I knew which stairway led where.
The stairway went into a high tower room, with a stairway leading far up. The walls were black and decorated with tiny sparkling lights, like stars. At the top of the stairs was the arena platform - and a giant white rose that was floating.
I stared at it for a second, bemused. Then the petals fell away and faded - it must have been some Psychic trick. In the center of the rose was a girl with the longest hair I had ever seen, dressed in white robes. The girl floated down to the floor, yawned, and said, "So, a challenger?"
"Yeah." I pulled out a Pokeball. "Ready to fight?"
"Of course." She smiled dreamily. "I am Caitlyn, challenger, the strongest user of Pyschic types in Unova. Are you prepared to face me?"
I opened the Pokeball, and Sonata flew out, her violet eyes flashing. I grinned. "Yeah, I think I am."
The dreamy look on Caitlyn's face vanished, and she grimaced.
The battle didn't last long.
Musharna, Sigilyph, Gothitelle, and Reuniclas. Sonata Night Slashed all of them, OHKO's all around. I beamed at a thoroughly put-out Caitlyn, high-fived Sonata, and we left the room, buoyed by the easy win.
Here's hoping the rest of the E4 is as easy!
