Remnants 36 - It Was A Breeze

I went in to the Mistralton gym, completely confident that I'd have no trouble there. And, I didn't.

Kitt took out all the gym trainers. He got close to level 61, but not quite. Then we challenged Skyla.

She was thrilled that we were finally battling her. "Ooh! Ooh! Which of your flying types will you be using to fight with?" She asked, excitedly.

I felt kind of sheepish, since she looked so excited...but I said awkwardly, "Uh, well, just my Murkrow Sonata. And then my Arcanine and Samurott too."

"Oh." She looked slightly put out, then beamed. "Oh, well! I guess that's smarter, strategy wise, huh?"

"Maybe we can have a sparring match sometime," I said brightly. "You know, a no-kill match."

"Oh, yeah, yeah! That'll be awesome!"

So we launched into the battle.

I sent Sonata against her Swoobat. It was a Faint Attack OHKO. Then she sent out her Swanna, her strongest, and Leatho sparred with it. It took two Slash hits to take it out, but he did, swiftly and with precision, like he always did. Didn't say a word through the whole fight. Then Skyla sent out her last, her Skarmory. Marco leaped into the battlefield with a loud bark. Because of her Skarmory's Sturdy, and she kept healing it, it took a Heat Wave and two Flamethrowers to finally bring it down. It didn't even manage to land one hit.

So I beat Skyla, and earned my sixth gym badge.

Skyla threw me the badge. "Man, even your non-flyers are awesome!" She said with a broad smile. She rubbed Marco's head and was about to pet Leatho, but thought twice at the fierce look he gave her. Sonata landed on her arm, though, and enjoyed Skyla scratching her chin.

"You know," Skyla said, "I have to give Professor Juniper a ride across the mountain to Lentimas Town later today. Do you want to come?"

"Professor Juniper's back? I thought she left weeks ago."

"Oh, yeah, but she comes and goes. Right now the mountain pass is closed though, so I have to fly any trainers across." She grinned. "But since you're a friend, I'll sneak you on board for free, as long as you promise me a sparring match when you get back to Mistralton. Deal?"

I fist-bumped her. "Deal!"

(Overgrinding certainly pays off. :3 Here's hoping it continues to do well...the next gym will be Opelucid, the dragon badge. Hrm. Also, I decided to use Leatho and Marco in this fight, to show you guys what their evolved forms look like already. XD Marco's so furry and handsome, and Leatho's so serious. XD They're definitely the biggest on my team. I mean, Marco's big enough for Tabby to ride on his back...I'm thinking Leatho stands at seven feet tall. Wow.)
