Remnants 32 - Red and Blue

Training outside of Mistralton was excellent. With the Lucky Egg, and high-leveled Audino, it only took part of a day to train Kitt. AND I trained him, not just to level 50, but to level 60! I was amazed at how well the training was going. My team was leaping up levels like crazy. I decided I'd train them all to level 60 before I fought Skyla - at this rate, it would only take a week.

It snowed a lot in Mistralton, more than any place I've been yet. That first day when we came was the first clear day in ages. It's been constantly snowing ever since then. We went farther north along the route, and we caught an Audino. We came to a tower, Celestial Tower I think. It was a graveyard for Pokemon. Looking at the trainers mourning there, I counted my blessings, yet again, that I haven't lost anyone yet.

We tried to catch a Litwick there, but Marco OHKO'ed it. Oh well.

We went back to the Pokemon Center and called Brandon. I sent him the Joltik and Audino, and he sent me two eggs. "How's your journey, so far, Tabby cat?" He asked me, smiling.

"It's been going great!" I said happily. "I have an awesome team, Brandon. Five gym badges now, nearly to a sixth, and no casualties, either!"

"Wow, impressive! See, I told you you'd be a awesome trainer. Much better than me, anyway."

"No, you're a good trainer." I said firmly. "You're taking great care of everyone at the ranch. How are they doing, anyway?"

He laughed. "Well, Judah, he's read everything in the library now. I take him to the library in Aspertia to get books from time to time. He's a studious little guy, loves learning and reading. He's even convinced Tien to learn to read, which is a miracle in and of itself, since he's more interested in playing outside and pretending to battle Leon. Leon, on the other hand, is the well established king of the ranch. He keeps an eye on things for me, but of course, I have to keep an eye on him...the other day I caught him trying to get the little ones to bring him food."

I laughed. "Oh, man. He must be getting pretty bored. He misses Belle, huh?"

"Yeah. Still hates Fang's guts, too." Brandon smiled crookedly. "You'll have to fix that eventually, Tabby. You can't keep Leon hiding on the ranch forever, and besides, Belle's here often enough while you're training the others."

"I'm leaving it up to Belle, you know that. She'll pick her mate when she feels ready."

"If you say so."

"What about the others?"

"Well, Frodo, Severus and Quincy run around, but they don't get into much trouble. Frodo loves it when Marco comes to visit, of course. They play together. And little Doro, the new one, he's Judah's little shadow, now. Hardly ever leaves his side."

I smiled. "It's good to hear they're doing alright." I said. "Take good care of them, okay?"

"I will."

I signed off, and took the two eggs with us when we went to train.

The first egg hatched outside, in the route. And it was a Magikarp. I know people say Magikarp are useless, but I don't think he is. I think he'll be just fine. I named him Geoffrey. He's Careful nature, strong willed. He's very sweet.

We went back to Mistralton to get supplies, and it was in town that the second egg hatched. It was a fluffy little ball of dark blue, with big yellow eyes. A Shinx! I named the little boy Cobalt, after the color of his fur, which is a bit darker than normal Shinx. Naughty nature, likes to thrash about. He's energetic and wild, a real handful.

He hatched knowing Ice Fang and Crunch, so I figure I may train him someday, but not quite yet. I like my team of eight, and I think I'll be fine with them. Cobalt may have an advantage against the Flying type gym, and later the Dragon gym with Ice Fang, so maybe. But for now, he and Geoffrey went to the ranch together. Cobalt loved his big brother, although Geoffrey isn't quite sure whether Cobalt will eat him or not.

So for now, we'll just train. Lots of training. And at the end of the week, we'll face Skyla.

(Yeah, Cobalt seems awfully useful. But I don't want to train him yet, mostly because it'll take plenty of time to train all eight of my guys up to level 60, and anything he'd be Super Effective against, I can take with level advantage, I think. And I figured I'd get a Magikarp or Bidoof eventually, so that's funny. XD But Geoffrey is cute, at least, and a Gyarados could be useful. You know, just in case something bad happens to Leatho...but it won't. Nope!)
